POWERTECH TECHFEST 2005
Begins in Next Month! |
Powertech's Techfest represents all the upcoming
fall events that are sponsored by Powertech. These
events are:
2005
Porscherama's "Powertech Time Trial" located
at Pocono Raceway, September 18th & 19th 2005.
For those of you that do not know what a “Time
Trial” is, it is very similar to an autocross
in that one car is timed on the track at a time.
The goal is to get around the road course in the
fastest time possible within your class. If you like
track and autocross, driving then you will LOVE the
time trial. For more info
about Porscherama, visit NNJR-PCA.com
"How
To Winterize Your Porsche & How To Purchase
A Preowned Porsche Workshop", located at
Powertech October 15th 2005. This seminar
will dive into the truths, myths, and legends
of storing your Porsche during the winter. We
will also cover the correct maintenance procedures
for those that drive their Porsches year round.
The second half of the seminar will cover the
recommended procedure for planning and purchasing
a pre-owned Porsche. This seminar is a must attend
for anyone interested in the mechanical aspects
of a Porsche!

TIPS OF THE
MONTH |

Brake
Caliper Corrosion --
Can’t get your brake pads into
your caliper without griding them?
Your calipers my have corrosion that
has built up under the steel pad
rests. This problem is seen mostly
on late 944 S2, 968, and 964 model
Porsches, but can also affect other
Porsche cars that utilize the Brembo
sourced 4 piston calipers. Powertech
provides machining operations to
cure this problem, as well as caliper
refinishing and rebuilding. Need
a set of correctly stenciled “Porsche” brake
calipers? Powetech can do it!

Distributor
Vent Updates for the 964 Porsche --
Do you or someone you know own an
1989-1994 Carrera 2 or 4? Make sure
your ignition distributor has the
required ventilation update. This
very simple, and very valuable addition
that helps dramatically extend the
life of the small-cogged rubber belt
(that connects the two distributor
rotor shafts). In the event that
the belt breaks, significant engine
damage can result from loss of the
secondary ignition system. The vent
update can be spotted by the second
flexible rubber hose that runs from
the left engine duct over to the
distributor. There must be two hoses
present – one for the distributor
and one for the taillight panel (itself
another update!). Click
here for a PDF file of the bulletin!

Chassis
Dyno is a Fantastic Diagnostic Tool -- Go
180mph standing still! We
have the Autobahn AND your favorite
racetrack here in our building. A
chassis dyno is perhaps one of the
best automotive diagnostic tools
that a shop can have today. At Powertech,
we use the best chassis dyno system
available - the Dynapack
Chassis Dyno System. Not only
is a chassis dyno the best way to
measure horsepower, it is also the
best way to make sure your Porsche
is tuned properly. We can diagnose
engine misses, poor performance,
cooling systems, electrical systems,
transmissions, and dozens of other
items that require your Porsche to
be at speed and under load. |
