TIPS OF THE
MONTH
Bad
MAF Sensor -- On 1997
and above 996's, Turbos, and Boxsters,
the Mass Air Flow Sensor can fail prematurely
due to delamination. Also over-oiling
your air filter cloggs the MAF sensor.
New
Mobil 1 -- Mobil Oils
has begun to replace 15w 50 as Mobil 1
Extended Performance. Containing more
additives, it;s high viscosity provides
outstanding performance in high-revving,
high-temperature conditions.
Failed
State Inspection -- On
all OBD2 (1996+) Porsche's, after being
serviced, from battery disconnection or
erased codes, the car must be driven through
a series of "Drive Cycles".
This cycle begins from when you start
the car through how long it is driven
for until the check engine light is off.
Then it can be tested by state inspection.
Valve
Cover Leak -- Be aware
that the 993 has plastic lower valve covers
which leak over time due to warpage of
the covers.Repairs may require
replacement of the cover and gaskets.

Rubber
Damper Breakage -- Due
to normal fatigue, the rubber damper tends
to break on all automatic transmission
equipped 968's and 944's.
