PORSCHERAMA
- POWERTECH TIME TRIAL
Sunday, September
18th at Pocono Raceway |
Powertech's Booth was set
up at the Porscherama event with brake pads, brake
fluids, safety equipment, and along with the chassis
dyno system. We had a special offer we had given
to Porsche owners - 3 test runs on each vehicle.
It was a great turnout for this year's Porscherama!
Thank you all!

We
were also the sponsor of 2005 Porscherama's"Time
Trial".
For those of you that do not know what a “Time Trial” is, it is very
similar to an autocross in that one car is timed on the track at a time. The
goal is to get around the road course in the fastest time possible within your
class.

TIPS OF THE
MONTH |

Convertible
Computer -- Put your
top up or down while on the go! This
new item is something all convertible
Porsche owners have been wishing for
years. In fact, all Porsche convertible
models as of the 2005 model year now
come with this feature.
This simple plug in relay enables you to lower or raise your top – while
the car is in motion – at speeds up to 25 mph. No more having to
stop under bridges when it starts to rain. Inexpensive and easy to install – try
one and you will love it! Contact Jake in Parts at parts@pwr-tech.com for
the "Smart Top" computer.

Ways
to protect your expensive paint – On
the street or on the track. --
One of the most asked question we get
at the shop is, “How do I
prevent my car from getting stone chips?” The
answer is simple or complex, depending
on your budget and how much protection
you want.

For both street and track, an old fashioned vinyl
protection bra has it’s advantages and disadvantages. Low
cost and ease of installation and removal make this protection device still
one of the most popular options. Bras that cover the entire nose, a portion
or all of the hood, and the side view mirrors, are the most common. The
downside to vinyl bras – they can flap in the wind and cause damage
to painted surfaces, and moisture from rain trapped under the bra will
discolor the paint. You must remove a bra whenever you park your car and
never wash a car with the bra protection in place.
The second most popular paint protection, at least for enthusiasts, is
the ever so simple racers tape. This colored
duct tape look-a-like is easy, if time consuming, to apply. Make sure you
use racers tape and never duct tape! Regular duct tape is highly adhesive
and can remove your paint when you peel the tape off. Racers tape must
always be removed as quickly as possible as the adhesive is affected by
moisture and time.
The last and possibly the best way of protecting paint is with a clear
film sheet, called Invinca-Shield, manufactured by 3M. This film
is typically custom die-cut to fit specific models of Porsche cars. Although
this method is the most expensive, you end up with a near invisible, and
near maintenance free, method of keeping your car looking like new.
The areas of your car that can be protected are limited only to your imagination
and budget. Although these clear films can be installed by the do-it-yourself
aficionados, we highly recommend having it professionally installed (preferably
by Powertech) as getting all the film to position correctly, as well as
getting all the air bubbles out, can cause severe brain damage.
For more information about Invinca-Shield protective film or all other
inquiries, contact Jake in Parts at parts@pwr-tech.com. |

Track
Tires - Don't "Fall" behind
with your track tires -- PLAN
AHEAD!
Because
of the track season winding down
in the fall (as well as high
track tire consumption with the
SCCA Runoffs), availability of
track tires in all sizes can
be sketchy at best. Plan ahead
as to what you will (or may)
need and avoid the pitfalls and
stress of not having tires!
You can order tires here by contacting Jake in Parts at parts@pwr-tech.com! |
